List Clean Up
Your mailing list is a valuable asset.
Keeping your mailing list up to date means that your information is
actually reaching your customers or prospects. It also saves you
money in Printing, Mailing and Postage costs as you are not paying to
print and mail to an undeliverable address.
Clean up your database of bad and
undeliverable addresses and eliminate the waste of returned or lost
mail.
There are several methods of cleaning
up your mailing list.
CASS Certified ZIP+4 and
Delivery Point Validation
A mandatory requirement for automation
discounts, CASS Certified software standardizes an address using
standard abbreviations, correct spelling and proper format. DPV
verifies that an address has an actual point of delivery.
This is the first step in cleaning your
list. Passing your list through CASS will kick out any addresses
that may not get delivered because there is something wrong with the
address.
Duplicate Elimination
Eliminate costly duplicate records from
a single list or across multiple lists and reduce the stead erosion of
your organization's credibility among customers or donors.
NCOA - National Change Of
Address
Over 40 million Americans change their
address annually, which creates formidable obstacles in maintaining a
high-quality mailing list. Increase delivery and response rates and
earn maximum postal discounts with list hygiene and move-forward data
services. Identify the movers in your list and update your records
with their new address information… before you mail.
NCOA processing searches your database
for the individuals, families, and businesses that have moved and
filed a change of address with the USPS® in the last 48 months. NCOA
is also available for address changes filed in the most recent 24
months. The 48-month service is recommended for any list that has not
been updated in over a year.
Effective November 23, 2008, the Postal
Service is increasing its efforts to improve the percentage of
deliverable mail by revising Move Update standards. Currently in
force for First Class bar coded mail, after November 23rd, these
standards will apply to Bulk (Standard A) Mail too.
